Challenge
The site was about 20 years old. Search Console showed 67 of 70 known pages not indexed. The homepage linked to none of the project pages, so the portfolio that wins work was invisible. Deploys were manual and risky.
Approach
We found the root cause before touching the design. A script on every project page redirected visitors in a way that hid the pages from search, and nothing linked to them. We fixed those first, then rebuilt the homepage around them.
Solution
- A new bilingual homepage in Bulgarian and English, with a light and a dark theme
- Search fixes at the root: the hiding redirect and the missing links are gone
- Canonical tags, language tags and structured data in place
- Sitemap filled with 30 missing pages
- Unique copy and image text for the project pages
- Safe deploys: server-side backup, a deploy lock, live content checks and one-command rollback
This is the website of Adacta Metal, a steel-structures company in Sofia. The site is small and mostly static, so the interesting work was not the design. It was working out why a company with a long project history was almost invisible in search, and then making the site safe to change.
The audience is industrial and commercial clients looking for steel halls, sandwich-panel buildings and design-and-build, mainly in Bulgaria. The homepage also carries a company timeline and a showcase of past projects.
Diagnose first
Search Console on 25 August 2026 showed 67 of 70 known pages not indexed. Three causes explained most of it. A script on every project page redirected visitors in a way that hid the page from search. The homepage linked to none of the project pages, so there was no path from the front door to the portfolio. And almost every legacy page had no canonical tag.
Those were fixed one by one, as separate tracked changes, before the homepage was redesigned.
The new homepage
The homepage is rebuilt as a single page in Bulgarian, with an English version alongside it and language tags that tell search engines how the two relate. It has a light and a dark theme with a logo for each, a responsive menu, a parallax hero and animation that appears as you scroll. It is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with no framework, build step or CMS.
Behind it sit structured data for the business, the organisation and a catalogue of six services, plus social sharing tags and a canonical address.
The project pages behind the homepage keep their older gallery layout, so they still look dated next to the new front page. That is a known limit of the work so far.
Two smaller defects were fixed on the way. Mismatches between the Bulgarian and English versions of pages behind the language toggle were corrected, and several English images were broken because a file name differed from its reference only in letter case, which works on a Mac and fails on a Linux server.
Pages that stopped sharing titles
A later measurement showed that 76 sitemap addresses shared only 26 distinct titles, and that 74 of the 76 pages carried fewer than 100 words. Unique copy and image descriptions were then added for the project pages. The sitemap had also been missing 30 live pages, which were added.
Safe deploys
The site lives on shared Apache hosting and is uploaded over FTP, which is exactly the kind of process that goes wrong quietly. The deploy tooling takes a server-side backup first, holds a lock so two deploys cannot overlap, compares the live files byte for byte with what was uploaded, checks that the site is up, and can roll back with one command. Its own test script covers the tooling, and security problems found in review rounds were fixed. Directory listing is switched off on the server.
Speed work was limited to things that can be checked in the code: fonts that no longer block rendering, deferred scripts, cache rules, compression and a cache-busting version on assets.
How the work was run
The work was a series of small tracked changes over about five weeks, from 25 August to 1 October 2026, with written reviews of the riskiest ones, such as the deploy scripts. The production deploy of the search fixes on 1 September was confirmed by a Search Console recheck that fetched the fixed pages from the live host, which proves the fixes are live and says nothing yet about rankings.
What cannot be said yet
Indexing is still being measured, and the recheck on 8 September 2026 was marked too early to call. So this page makes no ranking or traffic claim. It also quotes no PageSpeed or SEO scores, because none were recorded with tool output.
